The reference staff of the William S. Smith Library is dedicated to serving the students, staff, and faculty of South Georgia College as well as community patrons and students from surrounding schools. That service includes guidance and instruction in designing search strategies for gathering and using information from the book collection and from the library's computers.

The computers in the Reference Area give students access to the Internet and GALILEO. GALILEO is the statewide library initiative developed by the University System of Georgia to serve not only students but the entire population of Georgia. GALILEO has more than 145 databases from which to choose, several of which are full-text, meaning the article or information is available online.

An SGC Library Guide is available through this hyperlink or in printed form.  SGC Library orientations are given frequently to acquaint students and patrons with the various areas and functions of the library.  SGC faculty may schedule a Library Instruction Session on line.
